Two siblings lost their lives after being swept away by the raging floods at Ndarugu river in Silibwet village in Nessuit, Njoro Sub-County, Nakuru County.
Confirming the incident, the area chief, Douglas Mutai said that search and rescue operations have commenced using local divers to help retrieve the bodies of the two sisters aged 15 and 17 years.
According to reports, the two were in the company of a friend while crossing the river.
Unfortunately they slid and fell into the river following the heavy rain and only their friend managed to escape death by a whisker by swimming through.
The deceased minors, who have been identified as Sharon Chepngetitch and Faith Cheptoo, were pupils at Tegitech Primary School in grades seven and six, respectively.
