The political woes in Siaya county have reached a boiling point after Siaya Deputy Governor William Oduol said that his working relationship with Governor James Orengo has deteriorated since he was threatened with removal from office.

In his testimony before Thursday's Standing Committee on Devolution and Inter-Governmental Relations, Oduol stated that the county administration had repeatedly irritated him by refusing him facilitation fees and allowance.

Oduol says Governor Orengo employed goons to lock his office, leaving it inoperable and preventing him from doing his duties.

He regrets that his attempts to report the events have been ineffective, so he decided to elevate the matter to the committee.

"I would make sure that the Governor has visibility of all these letters and the County Assembly including the committee in charge of oversight. I have requisition for allowances for me and my staff here, they have never been paid," he said.

The committee has also decided to hear Orengo's defense as part of its efforts to mediate their split.

Following a long feud with Governor Orengo, Oduol was impeached in June last year for severe constitutional violations and abuse of authority.

Oduol has even stated that he is willing to cooperate with the Kenya Kwanza administration after being abandoned by members of his party, the Orange Democratic Party (ODM), for disrespecting his boss.
