A man has been arrested after he attacked Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in central Copenhagen on Friday.
"Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen was beaten on Friday evening at Kultorvet (square, red.) in Copenhagen by a man who was subsequently arrested. The Prime Minister is shocked by the incident," her office said without giving further detail.
On X, police claimed they had detained a man and investigated the incident but declined to provide more information.

"She seemed a little stressed," Soren Kjergaard, a barista on the plaza, told Reuters after witnessing the prime minister being led away by security following the attack.
The assault comes two days before the Danes vote in the EU election. Three weeks ago, Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico was gravely injured in an assassination attempt.
Magnus Heunicke, the Danish Minister of Environment, stated on X: "Mette is outraged by the attack. I must admit that it shocks those of us who are close to her.
