A section of Kenyans on X, formerly known as Twitter, has decided to take an unusual approach to ensure that the 2024 finance bill does not see the light of day.
The now popular #RespectMyHustle tag, started by influential X personality Amerix, tells Kenyans to contact their Members of Parliament and ask them to vote down the contentious bill.
He tweeted: "60% of your income goes to the taxman. Whom are you working for. You are working for the state. You are a slave. Refuse to be a slave. Pick up your phone now, and call your member of Parliament. Tell him to reject The Finance Bill. Add here their numbers.... "

Leading from the front, Amerix distributed a list of phone numbers belonging to numerous parliamentarians, pushing his supporters and Kenyans, in general, to courageously share more phone numbers and carry the message directly to the MPs' houses.
