The Mecca pilgrimage is a necessary religious requirement for all adult Muslims who are physically and financially capable of making the trek.

The core of Eid-al-Adha is retracing the Prophet Mohammed's steps and recounting Muslims' devotion to God.

The day commemorates Prophet Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son when God instructed him to.
