On Friday, June 14, hundreds of devoted followers attended the funeral service for beloved reggae emcee Njambi Koikai at the Lang'ata Cemetery.
As a reggae song began to play and the audience started dancing, the scene became chaotic. The emcee had to request everyone to quiet down and make way for Njambi's mother to enter.
Despite the pleas, the crowd, eager to pay their final respects to the trailblazer, remained unmoved. "Please let us respect the family and give them space so we can finish the burial," someone pleaded. Eventually, her coffin was brought to the grave, where a large throng gathered to get one final look at her.
The police presence did little to alleviate the situation, and security personnel struggled to control the crowd.
