The father of Jowie Irungu has died of cancer just months after his son was given a life sentence in the murder of Monica Kimani.

Julius Irungu, 64, died on Saturday while receiving cancer treatment at the Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital Annex.

His wife, Anne Thama, stated that her spouse had been in and out of the hospital owing to the condition before his death on Saturday.

Irungu, his wife, and daughter attended the majority of Jowie's court hearings in the murder case in which he was accused and convicted of killing 28-year-old Monica Kimani.

A section of online users are asking for Jowie to be given a pass to attend his father's burial.
