Nominated MCA Urbanus Kyalo Wambua, who was reported missing on Saturday, has been found admitted at the hospital.

The MCA was getting treatment at a hospital in Makindu when he talked with the media about his alleged kidnapping by the police.

He claimed to have been kidnapped by guys who identified themselves as Embu police officers.

According to the MCA, the investigators informed him that they were looking for those suspected of encouraging anti-government rallies around the country.

He also alleges that his abductors freed him when he begged them to do so.

The Wiper Party, led by Kalonzo Musyoka, released a public statement on Monday requesting the MCA's immediate and unconditional release.

He had been reported missing after witnesses saw him being bundled into a car that sped off towards Mombasa direction from Makindu.

He was reported missing when witnesses witnessed him being put into a car that raced away from Makindu toward Mombasa.

"The Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) Party unequivocally condemns the abduction of Hon. Wambua as a gross violation of human rights and equivalent to arbitrary arrests and enforced disappearance as prohibited under Article 29 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010," said the party's statement.

“We demand Hon. Wambua be released immediately and returned to his family in Makindu, Makueni County. We also demand that the government immediately end these illegal actions and release all others who have been arbitrarily arrested.

This follows a string of kidnappings aimed especially at vocal opponents of the 2024 finance plan and the administration.
