Seven people have been confirmed dead after the bus they were in collided with a trailer at Katumba Trading Centre on the Garissa-Mwingi route.
According to a police report, the incident occurred when a bus driver collided with a caravan that had halted on the road owing to a technical failure.
The bus driver, who was transporting 50 people from Garissa to Nairobi, attempted to overtake an unknown car, which did not stop, forcing him to return to his lane.

This, however, proved unsuccessful, as the driver crashed into a parked trailer.
“As a result of the accident, 7 people have been confirmed dead while several others have been evacuated to various hospitals,” read part of the police report.
Traffic police officers came to the scene to restore traffic flow along the road.
