In Kavuvwani B village, Kavuvwani location, Kitui County, a 3-year-old child seemingly consumed the remains of a green mamba snake, which resulted in his death.

Salim Mwendwa, the minor's grandfather, killed and burned the snake inside their home compound, according to a police report dated Saturday.

The child is then reported to have eaten the snake's remains while in the grandmother Margret Nzangi Mwendwa's care.


Officers visited the homestead and took pictures after Salim hurried to report the incident at the Mwingi Police station.

In anticipation of a postmortem, the body has been moved to the mortuary of Mwingi Level IV Hospital.
