President William Ruto asked for prayers as he searched for new cabinet secretaries days after sending his entire cabinet home.
Speaking at a church service in Nyandarua County, the head of state stated that he will not compromise competence as he is looking to recruit a new team to serve in his shaky executive branch.
He noted that he needs a professional staff at the top to enable him to carry out the lofty promises he made to Kenyans.
"Pray for me that I get employees who will help me to actualize the promises I gave you. You want me to build a new government that will unite the entire nation?" he posed to the crowd.
"I will plan slowly I see who will help me. Hasn't it been said that some of them were from Nyeri, others Kiambu, Murang'a. Is there any problem if one of them comes from Eldoret?"
President Ruto stated that he had decided to dissolve his Cabinet "after careful consideration, listening to what the people of Kenya have said, and a comprehensive assessment of the cabinet's performance, achievements, and challenges."
Kenyans have criticized the president online for sparing the Prime CS, who possesses an illegitimate post.
As Ruto struggles to find a new team, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has cautioned him not to select CSs with pride, as he did with the previous team.
Speaking in Elgeyo Marakwet on Saturday, Gachagua emphasized that the new CSs should prioritize Kenyans' interests to boost the country's economy.
