Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi has suggested that Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna should join forces with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to strengthen the Opposition. Sudi, a close associate of President William Ruto, encouraged Sifuna, who also serves as the ODM Secretary-General, to exercise his constitutional rights and collaborate with Kalonzo.

"Edwin Sifuna, as a lawyer of high repute, feel free to join Kalonzo Musyoka to build a formidable opposition," Sudi remarked.

This suggestion follows Sifuna's recent call for the resignation of ODM members who were nominated to President William Ruto's Cabinet. Speaking on Citizen TV, Sifuna clarified that the four ODM members were not officially recommended by the party for positions in Ruto's broad-based government. He emphasized that their nominations did not reflect the party's stance.

Sifuna expects these members to resign from their party positions before the parliamentary vetting process. "I expect that by the end of the day or before they go for vetting, we will receive resignations from these individuals from their positions in the party. This is my expectation because the law states that they cannot enter the Cabinet as members of political parties," Sifuna stated.

Kalonzo Musyoka, a key figure in the Azimio coalition, has opposed joining Ruto's administration. He argued that participating in the proposed government of national unity would be a betrayal, particularly to younger generations, such as Gen Z and millennials.

On Thursday, Sifuna reiterated that the four individuals nominated by President Ruto—John Mbadi for the Treasury, Opiyo Wandayi for the Energy Ministry, Hassan Joho for the Mining Ministry, and Wycliffe Oparanya for the Ministry of Cooperatives—were not put forward by Raila Odinga. He noted that Raila is a strong advocate for gender equity.
