President William Ruto on Sunday announced that Kenyans who secure jobs abroad will receive their passports within a week.
Speaking in Taita Taveta, the Head of State revealed that over 1,000 Kenyans leave the country each week for job opportunities abroad.
Further, he stated that the State Department of Labour’s online directory lists 400,000 job openings for Kenyans.
“I have arranged for those who find employment abroad to get their passports within one week, and the cost of their flights will be covered by us and their employers,” Ruto stated.
He urged Members of Parliament to organize the youth in their constituencies to ensure they can take advantage of these international job opportunities.

In his efforts to combat youth unemployment, the President has established agreements with various countries to facilitate the employment of Kenyan youth abroad.
In addition to overseas placements, Ruto is also focused on creating digital jobs that allow young people to work remotely for international companies.
On May 26, he promised to secure investments and opportunities, including 10,000 overseas jobs for Kenyans. Ruto aims for 250,000 Kenyans to work abroad each year as part of this initiative.
