The immigration department has announced that applicants will no longer be required to book an appointment to collect their passports.

In a statement on X, the department said applicants will now receive a notification from the Immigration Department confirming that their application has been processed and their passports have been printed.

The department noted that these changes directly respond to public input and reflect the Directorate’s dedication to improving efficiency and accessibility.

This comes shortly after President William Ruto announced that Kenyans who secure jobs abroad will receive their passports within a week.

Speaking in Taita Taveta, the Head of State revealed that over 1,000 Kenyans leave the country each week for job opportunities abroad.

Further, he stated that the State Department of Labour’s online directory lists 400,000 job openings for Kenyans.

“I have arranged for those who find employment abroad to get their passports within one week, and the cost of their flights will be covered by us and their employers,” Ruto stated.

He urged Members of Parliament to organize the youth in their constituencies to ensure they can take advantage of these international job opportunities.
