Wojcicki worked for YouTube for nine years until 2023, when she stepped down to focus “on my family, health and personal projects I’m passionate about”.
Ms Wojcicki was one of relatively few women to hold a senior role in the technology industry.
Her tenure was not without controversy with the platform facing criticism over its handling of online disinformation, including during the Covid pandemic.
In 2022, several fact-checking organizations wrote to her, accusing YouTube of being “one of the major conduits of online disinformation and misinformation worldwide.”
Ms Wojcicki stepped down a year later to focus on her personal life and health.
