On Monday, Deputy Inspector General of Kenya Police Eliud Lagat reassigned 17 senior officers as part of an effort to improve operations within the police service. These are the first changes Lagat has implemented since assuming his role as DIG.

Edward Kipsang was appointed as the new Lamu County Commander, replacing William Samoei Kibiwott, who was transferred to the GSU College in Embakasi and appointed Commandant, with Titus Mutune named as his deputy.

Judy Kalondu was assigned as the Staff Officer Personnel at the Kenya Airports Police Unit, while Joshua Kasoka will serve as the Commanding Officer at police headquarters. William Sawe was appointed as the new Head of Operations at the GSU, and Nixon Auka will be stationed at headquarters.

Other notable changes include Charles Chesir taking charge of transport at GSU, Mwanadoyo Mayaa overseeing Gender and Welfare at GSU, David Kigai becoming the Deputy Commander at headquarters, James Mamir heading Training, and Vitalis Adawa taking a position at headquarters.

Lagat also appointed Judy Gichuba as the Officer in Charge of Leadership and Management Faculty at the B Campus, and Bernard Mbatha as the Deputy Director of Operations at police headquarters. Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo was redeployed to the GSU’s Recce Unit as Deputy Head. Philomen Leshoo was named the Sub-County Commander for Rachuonyo, with a new commander expected to be assigned to Siaya County soon.

Lagat stated that these changes are routine and intended to enhance the effectiveness of the police service, with more adjustments expected in the coming days.
