A 20-year-old suspected thug working as a fisherman has been arrested, and a homemade gun was recovered by police officers at Wich-Lum beach in Bondo, Siaya County.
Fredrick Otieno Oholo was arrested following a tip-off from other fishermen.
Confirming the arrest, Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo said that the incident was reported at Bondo police station by the area Beach Management Unit (BMU) officials.
"They had spotted one of the fishermen with what they suspected to be a gun," Kimaiyo said.
Further, Kimaiyo revealed that officers from Bondo police station rushed to the scene and arrested the suspect.

"The suspect was in possession of a black bag. Upon searching the bag, a homemade gun was recovered," police noted.
The suspect was taken to Bondo police station ahead of his arraignment.
