The death toll from a devastating car accident in the Migaa area near Salgaa has risen to 13 after five more bodies were recovered from the wreckage of a bus. Thirty-six other passengers sustained various injuries and are currently receiving treatment at different hospitals in the area.

The accident occurred at around 4 a.m. on Tuesday and involved a Coast Bus traveling from Kakamega to Mombasa, with an undetermined number of passengers on board. According to survivors, the bus experienced mechanical issues in Kericho before apparently losing its brakes and crashing into a personal car at Migaa.

Rescue operations began early Tuesday morning, with concerns that more bodies might still be trapped in the mangled remains of the bus. The Kenya Red Cross confirmed that 36 injured individuals were transported to Coptic and Molo Hospitals following the crash.

In an update on X (formerly Twitter), the Kenya Red Cross stated, "Thirty-six injured individuals have been taken to Molo and Coptic Hospitals following a road traffic incident involving a PSV bus and multiple vehicles at Migaa in Molo, Nakuru County." The Red Cross, along with a multi-agency response team, remains on-site to provide assistance.
