X influencer and political blogger Maverick Aoko has opened up about her experience in police custody over the weekend following her arrest on Friday. Aoko was taken into custody after posting controversial statements on X, which authorities claimed were made in bad faith.

She was detained at Muthaiga Police Station from Friday until Monday, when she was released on cash bail after appearing in court.

Aoko disclosed that she slept in the Muthaiga cells for three nights in a post on her X account. She described how the area was overrun with mosquitoes.

Aoko went on to say that despite her best efforts, she was unable to fall asleep because the cell lacked a mattress.

According to the blogger, the experience hasn't affected her at all. "For the past 3 nights, saa Kaa hizi the floor is Alaska Kwa cell. Mosquitoes performing a mandatory musical and Ballet to you. No mattress. I used to wear my jacket and try to sleep by all means. They thought they were breaking me, they hardened me. My crime? Speaking truth," she posted.
