Singapore's Ministry of Health reported that the country had identified 13 mpox Clade 2 infections this year.

According to the ministry's bulletin, all detected cases so far involve the "less severe" Clade 2 variant.

On the same day, Thailand confirmed that a recent mpox case was identified as the Clade 1b strain, marking only the second instance of this variant being detected outside Africa.

The Clade 1b variant has raised global concerns due to its higher transmissibility through close contact.

Singapore is closely monitoring developments in response to the global mpox situation, which the World Health Organization has declared a public health emergency of international concern.

As a precaution, starting Friday, the country will implement temperature screenings at Changi and Seletar airports for travelers arriving from regions at risk of mpox outbreaks.
