The government has confirmed a third case of Mpox in the country after a 30-year-old female patient in Nairobi tested positive for the disease.
Announcing the case on Friday, Health Ministry Director General Dr Patrick Amoth said the patient, who has a recent travel history to Uganda, is in stable condition and receiving treatment in an isolation unit in Nairobi.
This follows earlier detections in Taita Taveta and Busia counties.
The Heath Ministry has tested 89 samples for Mpox, with 79 testing negative and seven still under analysis.
Dr Amoth highlighted that the Ministry has been actively monitoring the situation and has ramped up efforts to control the spread of the disease.

“The ongoing active surveillance includes the rigorous screening of travelers at the country’s designated Ports of Entry, with over 582,000 individuals screened to date.”
Further, he urged the public to remain calm and assured that the healthcare system is fully equipped to manage the disease.
"We wish to reassure the public that our healthcare facilities are fully prepared to diagnose and manage this disease and there is no need to panic... We remain dedicated to safeguarding the health and well-being of all citizens and we will continue implementing comprehensive response measures."
