The Bomet County Assembly voted to impeach three members of the County Executive Committee (CEC) following allegations of gross misconduct.
The three CECs are Andrew Sigei (Finance, ICT, and Economic Planning), Eric Kipkoech Ngetich (Roads, Transport, and Public Works), and Dr. Joseph Kipngetich Kirui (Administration, Public Service, and Special Programmes).
The impeachment follows an investigation by an ad hoc committee set up by the Assembly to investigate the allegations against the three officials.
According to the Committee’s findings, each CEC member was found guilty of various charges, ranging from constitutional violations and abuse of office to incompetence.
A total of 29 out of 38 members of the Bomet County Assembly supported the Adhoc Committee’s recommendations for removing CEC Sigei.

Further, CEC Ngetich was also removed from his position after 29 members of the Assembly voted in favor of his ouster.
MCA Josphat Kipkirui presented the motion for his removal, charging him with gross constitutional violations and abuse of office.
Dr. Joseph Kipngetich Kirui faced a similar fate, with 29 Assembly members backing his impeachment on all counts, including constitutional violations, abuse of office, and incompetence.
His motion was tabled by nominated MCA Vincent Mutai.
Notably, the trio did not appear in person during the impeachment hearings. Instead, they were represented by their lawyer, Desmond Leteipa.
