Ugandan security officers arrested four female protesters who marched topless to Parliament, demanding a stop to corruption and the resignation of Speaker Anita Among.

Videos on social platform X showed the women carrying anti-corruption placards and painting their torsos in the colors of the Ugandan flag.

Operating under the banner "Uganda Freedom Activists," the protesters were intercepted by uniformed and plainclothes police before being taken into custody.

The protesters called for a lifestyle audit of parliamentarians and accountability from the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) following the tragic deaths of at least 35 people at a Kampala dumpsite in August.

The protests, fueled by long-standing corruption allegations involving high-profile officials, were inspired by similar demonstrations in Kenya that led President William Ruto to cancel planned tax hikes.

Ugandan police had previously warned against demonstrations threatening the nation's peace and security.
