In a recent interview on Spice FM, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah recalled a chaotic encounter at a State Lodge meeting involving Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and digital strategist Dennis Itumbi.
According to Ichung’wah, Gachagua confronted Itumbi, grabbing him by the collar for failing to tweet as instructed. The Majority Leader described the Deputy President as petty and vindictive, stating that Gachagua’s rise to power has unveiled his true nature.
Ichung’wah questioned Gachagua's leadership style, suggesting that he demands unwarranted loyalty and punishes those who do not conform to his wishes. He criticized Gachagua for belittling and humiliating leaders who refused to bow to his authority.

Ichung'wah cited an incident in which the Deputy President allegedly mocked Kiambaa MP John Kawanjiku by mentioning personal details, such as the dowry paid at his wedding.
The Majority Leader also highlighted a controversial remark made by Gachagua toward Baringo County Woman Representative Florence Jematiah. He allegedly insulted her because of her association with leaders Gachagua disapproved of.
Ichung'wah explained that many MPs from the Mt. Kenya region have distanced themselves from Gachagua, fearing intimidation and retribution. He accused the Deputy President of trying to control the political narrative in the area to strengthen his influence within the government.
For months, Ichung’wah has been outspoken against what he perceives as divisive and tribal politics spearheaded by Gachagua.
In contrast, the Deputy President has warned "rebel leaders," cautioning that they will face voter backlash if they continue to defy his leadership.
