Police officers have launched a probe into the suspicious suicide of a university lecturer whose body was found hanging from a tree in Kachola Village, Kodera South Location, Rachuonyo South Sub-County.
South Kodera Senior Chief Joseph Mboga reported that Dr. Owino who until his death was a lecturer at the University of Nairobi and had recently returned home from Nairobi, and his body was discovered by his employee on Thursday.
Homa Bay County Police Commander Hassan Barua confirmed the incident, stating that Dr. Owino had shared an evening meal with his worker on Wednesday night and was expected to travel back to Nairobi on Friday.
Authorities found a ladder and a note containing his wife's phone number near the tree. The body has been transferred to the Rachuonyo South Sub-County mortuary as investigations continue.
