An athlete, Joseph Hussein Njagi, collapsed and died after competing in a scholarship trial at Kipchoge Stadium in Uasin Gishu County.
Police sayNjagi completed the 3,000-metre race around midday and collapsed at the finish line.
According to a police report, athletics officials rushed the 20-year-old to Uasin Gishu District Hospital to receive medical treatment, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The officials alerted police officers from Eldoret Police Station, who rushed to the hospital.
The officers transferred the body to the Moi Teaching And Referral Hospital morgue pending post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death
