Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu was arrested on Monday and driven to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters over claims he made inciting remarks in Ruiru.
According to his lawyer, Ndegwa Njiru, he was driven and detained at the DCI’s Serious Crime Unit.
Police said they acted to forestall further remarks that may incite the public.

Waititu’s lawyers and other political leaders rushed to the DCI on Monday afternoon to obtain more information and determine the best course of action.
