Kariobangi Legends Youth FC has appointed former Harambee Stars midfielder Osborne Monday as their new head coach ahead of their debut season.

In a short ceremony held at their training grounds, club chairman Erick Otieno Atanga said they settled on Monday due to his experience and also having played at the rough grounds in Nairobi.

“We had around four candidates but we settled on Monday because he ticks all we were looking for; other than being a former star who has a desire for more,” said Atanga.

“We were champions and we hope nothing short of it this season - from the coach - and the newly acquired players.”

On his part, Monday said he is optimistic he will prosper in his coaching debut role in a high-level team.

“It is a good challenge which came at a good time but I will be taking a game at a time as we aim to reach the club’s target at the end of the season.”

Monday played for Mathare, Tusker and Sofapaka locally with short stints at Al Shabab in Oman and Azam FC in Tanzania.

The FKF Division two league is set to begin mid next month.
