Police in Homa Bay County have arrested an 18-year-old man for allegedly kidnapping and defiling a 7-year-old girl in Shauri Yako Estate.
Confirming the incident, County Police Commander Hassan Barua said the suspect abducted the girl from her home while her mother was seeking medical treatment at Homabay Hospital.
He was later subjected to mob justice by enraged members of the public before police arrived.
“This young man went to the home of a mother who was admitted at Homa Bay Hospital. He abducted this young lady and took her to his residence near Shauri area. He defiled her and members of the public got information yesterday,” he said.
The suspect has been released from the hospital and will remain under police surveillance while awaiting arraignment.
