Social workers in Marimanti, Tharaka Nithi County, have rescued a four-month-old baby girl who was found abandoned outside a resident’s home.
The discovery was made on Wednesday night, and the baby is now under the care of social welfare officials as authorities begin investigations.
Laurencia Kinoti, the area manager, stated that a resident raised the alarm after finding the infant outside her home.
"The baby was dressed in light clothing, and it was cold outside. She had been bitten by mosquitoes. I reported the incident to the OCS, and we took the baby to the hospital. Thankfully, her condition is stable, though she has a cough due to exposure to the cold," Kinoti said.

Another resident, Pascalina Kagendo, commented, "The baby has been crying and needs milk and care. We are unsure of what to do as we await the court's decision on the child's future."
She urged mothers not to abandon their children, regardless of their circumstances.
