Renowned Kikuyu news anchor Martin Kihara Gathua from Kieni West, Nyeri, has passed away after a long battle with cancer. The heartbreaking news was confirmed by his brother, Museveni Mugathua Bahati.
According to Mugathua, Martin succumbed to lung cancer earlier today while receiving treatment at Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral, and Research Hospital in Nairobi, where he had been in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). His sudden passing comes just a day after the family made an online appeal for blood donations and financial assistance to cover his mounting medical bills.

Mugathua, a veteran media personality known by many due to his journalist prowess was previously stationed at Ujanjo FM, Kayu and Inooro FM. He impacted countless listeners through his voice, wisdom and message thus instilling joy, hope and future to them.
