The Senate is set to begin hearing the impeachment motion against Kericho Governor Erick Mutai today, with proceedings starting at 9 a.m. A final vote by the senators to determine Mutai's fate is expected on Tuesday.

Regarding the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, National Assembly Clerk Samuel Njoroge will submit evidence related to the case to the Senate later today at 4 p.m., ahead of the scheduled hearings. Senate Clerk Amason Kingi has set Wednesday and Thursday for the full hearings on the matter.

Meanwhile, Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya will join the military community in celebrating the 13th Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Day at Thika Barracks.


In a separate legal matter, a Nairobi court is set to hear Deputy President Gachagua’s application seeking to halt his impeachment trial at the Senate.

On the sports front, Harambee Stars will face Cameroon today in the second leg of the AFCON 2025 qualifier. The match will be held in Uganda following the Stars' 4-1 defeat to the Indomitable Lions in the first leg. Coach Engin Firat is aiming for a better outcome in this match.

Additionally, former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) CEO Barry Otieno is among 10 candidates expected to submit their presidential papers before the close of business today. The FKF elections are scheduled for December.
