Residents of Kiamunyi in Rongai Constituency, Nakuru County, are still in shock after the body of a female Mount Kenya University student was discovered in a maize field.

Her national ID and student card were used to identify her as a student from the MKU main campus.

Kiamunyi Location Senior Chief Wilson Maraga confirmed the discovery, stating the body was found in the Mercy Njeri Sub-location. He noted that such incidents are uncommon in the generally peaceful area.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the student was not from the region. Documents found at the scene indicated she hailed from Nandi South. The police have yet to remove the body, with formal investigations set to commence soon.

Brighton Roman, a resident, was the first to find the body while returning from a shop. He alerted nearby farmworkers, and one of them contacted the area sub-chief, who then responded.

New details have emerged that the 23-year-old student had traveled from Thika to Nakuru on Saturday. A bus fare receipt found near the body could provide crucial information for the investigation.
