President William Ruto has arrived at Kwale County Stadium to lead the 61st Mashujaa Day celebrations. The stadium, which cost Sh450 million, has a seating capacity of 10,000.

Thousands of Kenyans began gathering at the venue as early as 5 a.m., and they cheered upon the president's arrival. Security around the stadium has been heightened, with officers from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and the National Police Service stationed from Kombani to Kwale town.


Ruto is accompanied by First Lady Rachel Ruto, Deputy President-designate Kithure Kindiki, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, and Kwale Governor Fatma Achani.

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) will lead the celebrations, with a Guard of Honor (GoH) commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Faith Mwagandi, marking a historic moment as the first female senior officer to command a GoH at a national event. The Guard of Honor is made up of troops from the Kenya Army, Kenya Air Force, and Kenya Navy.
