On Wednesday, Beverly Wahome, mother of Safari Rally driver Maxine Wahome, testified in her daughter’s ongoing trial for the alleged murder of her former boyfriend, Asad Khan. Maxine was arrested on December 12, 2022, at a Kilimani apartment in Nairobi after allegedly assaulting Khan, who later died from his injuries at a local hospital.
During her testimony, Beverly recounted a distressing video call from her daughter on the night of the incident, during which Maxine urgently pleaded for help. Beverly described how she witnessed the chaotic scene unfold in real-time, including seeing Khan bleeding, while her daughter asked her to contact the police and come to her aid.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions issued a statement on X, noting that “Maxine’s mother testified that she was able to see, in real time, the events occurring at the scene, including Asad Khan’s bleeding.”
