Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua recently urged President William Ruto to approach government reforms with the same urgency that was applied in his removal from office.
Speaking at a funeral in Kabare, Kirinyaga County, Gachagua highlighted the significance of the Coffee Bill 2023, a proposal he championed to support Kenya's coffee farmers, and called for its swift passage.
Gachagua emphasized that the Coffee Bill, now in Parliament, deserves prompt action similar to the expedited procedures seen during his impeachment.

He encouraged lawmakers to pass the bill promptly, publish it in the Gazette overnight, and deliver it to the president for signature by morning.
"The speed they used to remove me should be the same speed they use to pass the Coffee Bill," he noted, underscoring the urgency of supporting the country's coffee industry.
The former deputy president also advised residents of the Mt. Kenya region to remain united, confident that positive change is on the horizon.
"God is still on the throne, and things will improve," he said, expressing appreciation for the support he continues to receive from the community.
Additionally, Gachagua urged the government to intensify its fight against alcoholism, a campaign he actively pursued during his tenure.
He appealed to authorities to continue efforts to curb alcohol abuse, warning that failing to address this issue harms youth and undermines his previous initiatives to protect the community from its damaging effects.
