More female candidates are sitting this year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations than their male counterparts in Malindi, Kilifi County.
Sub County Director of Education Rashid Roba Adan said that out of the 4,692 candidates who started writing their examination papers on Monday, 2,409 are females, while the males are 2,283.
Adan told Kenya News Agency that the examinations are being conducted in 50 centers, with 52 secondary schools presenting candidates for the tests.
“We have a total of 52 schools which presented KCSE candidates, but two of the schools are being hosted in other schools,” Mr Adan explained.
He said all examination and security officials had adequately been briefed on the examination's conduct and warned that anyone involved in examination irregularities would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
