Police in Homa Bay County have arrested eight teachers from Pala Masogo Secondary School in Homa Bay Sub-County on suspicion of engaging in exam malpractice. The arrests occurred on Monday after the teachers were reportedly found photocopying a Chemistry exam paper within the school premises.

The suspects, now held at Homa Bay Police Station, were detained by a joint team comprising Ministry of Education officials and the National Police Service. Homa Bay Sub-County Police Commander Emmanuel Kiplagat confirmed the incident, explaining that the exam paper was intended for a student who had been hospitalized.

Those arrested include the school's center manager, invigilators, and teachers hired by the school’s Board of Management. Kiplagat stated that all evidence was seized and will be presented in the case against the suspects.

In response, the Ministry of Education has replaced all exam officials at the school to ensure that the 119 candidates can continue their exams without further interruption.
