Diddy won't be running his famous "Vote or Die" campaign for the 2024 presidential election, partly because he's currently in federal custody. However, the Bad Boy Records founder can still participate in the election.
Diddy is currently held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn awaiting his criminal trial. Since he hasn’t been convicted, he retains his right to vote, and he could do so by absentee ballot from the federal facility. The Federal Bureau of Prisons, which oversees MDC Brooklyn, confirmed that Diddy would need to request an absentee ballot and can vote in the state where he’s registered, likely either Florida or California.
While it’s unclear if Diddy plans to vote in 2024—especially as he prepares for a trial tentatively set for May 2025—his team declined to comment on the matter.

This election could see more inmate voters, as the Bureau of Prisons clarified that eligible inmates who haven’t been convicted can vote absentee. Inmates who lived in Maine, Puerto Rico, Vermont, or Washington, D.C., before incarceration can also still register and vote, due to a 2021 Executive Order signed by President Biden. Additionally, for the first time, all Los Angeles County jails are offering in-person voting this cycle, allowing inmates who haven’t been convicted of a felony in California to cast their ballots.
