High Court has directed that a petition challenging the impeachment process of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua be mentioned on January 23, 2025.
This order followed a request from Gachagua’s lawyers to adjourn the case, allowing time for a Court of Appeal decision on his challenge to a ruling that found Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu did not violate the Constitution when she appointed a three-judge bench to hear the petition.
“As such the same is hereby allowed to amend their petition and serve within 30 days,” the three Judge bench directed.
This comes after Gachagua’s appeal case against the formation of the three-judge High Court bench by DCJ Mwilu was set for hearing on or before December 20, 2024.
