In a triumphant return to the Premier League, Ipswich Town claimed their first league victory in 22 years with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Tractor Boys, who have been striving to establish themselves since rejoining England’s top tier this summer, finally earned a well-deserved three points, lifting themselves out of the relegation zone and pushing Crystal Palace down in the standings.
Ipswich’s opener came courtesy of Sammie Szmodics, who launched a stunning overhead kick beyond Spurs keeper Guglielmo Vicario.
The visitors doubled their lead shortly after when Liam Delap bundled the ball in from close range, sending the passionate Ipswich supporters into raptures.
However, the match took a dramatic turn when Spurs seemed poised to pull level.

Early in the second half, Dominic Solanke had a goal controversially ruled out for handball, much to the frustration of the home fans. Nonetheless, Tottenham’s hopes were revived when Rodrigo Bentancur powered a header home from a Pedro Porro corner with just 21 minutes remaining.
Despite increased pressure and a late attempt from Solanke that was thwarted by Ipswich keeper Arijanet Muric, the Tractor Boys held on for a remarkable victory.
This win marks Ipswich’s first top-flight triumph since April 2002, a moment that will be celebrated by fans and players alike as they look to build momentum in their return to the Premier League.
