The  United Democratic Alliance (UDA) National Executive Committee (NEC) has named Kithure Kindiki Deputy Party Leader, replacing Rigathi Gachagua.

While reading the resolutions, UDA chairperson Cecily Mbarire and Secretary General Hassan Omar said they made the decision following Rigathi's successful impeachment last month, rendering him incapable of discharging his duties as deputy party leader.

The officials assured the incoming deputy party leader that his unmatched skills would help move the party forward.

On his part, Kindiki said he is ready to serve with loyalty and that the party will work with other institutions to solve issues affecting the party and the country.

"I want to assure you of my unwavering party to the ideals that our party stands for. I will work with all the organs established under our party constitution for the good and better performance of our party," he said.

Kindiki said he is assuming the role of deputy party leader when the country is at a crossroads.

Further, he said that UDA stands for unity for all Kenyans regardless of their background.

"The unity of Kenya is not a threat to the segments that constitute Kenya."
