Police officers have arrested a man accused of stealing a child aged two years in Kisumu county two weeks ago.
His arrest was in collaboration with the Awendo sub-county community policing unit, which apprehended him at an eatery in the town where he worked as a waiter.
According to Awendo sub-county community policing chairperson Joseph Opole , his team managed to arrest the suspect and handed him over to the police together with the child, aged two years.
Opole said they have been looking for the suspect for the past week after they learned that he works in Awendo town.
The suspect allegedly claimed that the child he escaped with belonged to his girlfriend who he wanted to marry, but the lady has not been ready.
