Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO, will head a new federal initiative, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), to reduce government waste.

As the president-elect, Trump added Musk to his team, citing the tech magnate’s significant support during the campaign. Musk allegedly invested over $100 million to boost Trump's candidacy and regularly supported him on his social media platform, X.

Musk and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy will lead DOGE, which aims to streamline federal agencies, cut regulations, and reduce unnecessary spending.

Musk assured followers on X that the department’s findings will be shared publicly and plans to rank the government’s “most absurd uses of taxpayer dollars.”

Preparing to reenter the White House, Trump will meet with President Joe Biden, signaling a formal transition. His administration picks reveal a focus on immigration enforcement, military strength, and foreign policy reformation.

Pete Hegseth, an army veteran and Fox News host, will be defense secretary, while Marco Rubio is likely to become secretary of state, a critical position in Trump’s future administration.

Other key appointees include former intelligence chief John Ratcliffe as CIA head, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem as homeland security secretary, and Tom Homan as "border czar."

Additionally, environmental deregulation will fall under the purview of Lee Zeldin, Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency head nominee. New York congresswoman Elise Stefanik will serve as UN ambassador for foreign affairs, and former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee as ambassador to Israel.

Trump’s upcoming administration underscores his commitment to a right-leaning policy agenda. His strategic nominations, some expected to bypass Senate approval, emphasize a return to the hardline stances that defined his first term.
