Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a man suspected to be the ring leader of individuals linked to the 2024 KCSE exam malpractice scandal.
According to the DCI, the 23-year-old Collins Kipchumba Kemboi suspect has been operating under the name “Dorothy Jerop Kiprono” to run popular exam-leak channels on Telegram and WhatsApp.
His platforms reportedly reached over 78,000 followers on Telegram and 8,500 in various WhatsApp groups.
In coordination with Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) officials, DCI detectives apprehended Kemboi at a Kiamunyi Nakuru County residence. Authorities reported seizing a mobile phone suspected of having been used to defraud students, multiple SIM cards, identification cards with various aliases, and a driver’s license.

Kemboi, a Bachelor of Arts in Human Resource Management graduate from a Kenyan university, is a salesperson at an international firm.
Initially from Kaseta in Sacho, Baringo County, he faces multiple charges, including fraud and unauthorized possession of exam materials. He is expected to appear in court on Thursday at Nakuru Law Courts.
