Kirinyaga residents, on Friday morning, discovered a man's body in the Nyamindi River at Nduma Village in Mwea East while planting crops.

According to the residents led by the village in-charge Gitari Gititu, the body was found by residents whose land borders the Nyamindi River.

"I was called by the villagers from the other side of the river, who informed me that they had seen a human body. When I arrived, I confirmed it was that of a man, and I immediately notified the authorities," Gitari said.

Residents speculated that the man could have been a boda boda rider, as he had three sets of clothes, including a reflector jacket.

"We suspect the man may have been killed elsewhere and dumped here. The area is bushy, and we hope detectives will uncover more details during the investigation," said Peter Munene, a local resident.

The body was retrieved by locals and police officers and has been moved to Kerugoya Hospital Mortuary, where it awaits post-mortem examination and identification by police officers from Wang'uru Police Station.
