President William Ruto has named businessman Dr. Thuo Mathenge as the new Chairperson of the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) Board.
According to a Gazette Notice dated November 15, 2024, Dr. Mathenge's appointment takes effect immediately and will run for a three-year term.
The notice states:
"Under the authority granted by section 6 (1) (a) of the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Act, 2013, alongside section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Thuo Mathenge as Chairperson of the Board of the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization, for a period of three (3) years, effective November 15, 2024."
