**Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua Alleges Harassment by Government**

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has accused the government of subjecting him to surveillance, harassment, and intimidation.

In a social media post, Gachagua claimed that unidentified security agents in unmarked vehicles have been trailing him and monitoring his movements near his residences in Nairobi and Nyeri.

"They are parked at the entrance of my Nairobi home, tracking all my visitors, and follow me whenever I leave, even to my rural home in Nyeri," he stated.

Gachagua also alleged that a saloon car stationed outside his residence recently followed him to the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) in Kerarapon. "Last Sunday, the same saloon car trailed me to PCEA Kerarapon Church, then to a late lunch, and back to my house," he added.

Upon investigating the car’s registration via the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) portal, Gachagua said he discovered the plates were registered to a lorry, not the saloon car in question.

"This kind of surveillance and intimidation was last seen during the era of the feared ‘Special Branch’ under Moi’s 24-year regime. In an age of extrajudicial killings, abductions, and disappearances, I feel it’s important to inform Kenyans about the harassment I’m facing and urge them to hold the state accountable if anything happens to me," he wrote.

Gachagua appealed to the government to respect his privacy and allow him to live peacefully as a private citizen after his impeachment. "You removed me from office. Now, let me enjoy my life in peace," he said.

Meanwhile, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) recently dismissed similar claims from Gachagua, describing them as baseless. In a statement, the DCI reiterated its commitment to operating within the rule of law and respecting citizens' freedoms, including religious practices.
