Tanzanian police have apprehended two minors accused of throwing stones at an electric train on the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), damaging two windows.

The incident took place on November 22 in Manase village, Chamwino District, as the train was en route from Dar es Salaam.

Authorities reported that the suspects, aged 16 and 12, admitted to throwing the stones as a way to test if they could match the train’s speed.

Following the incident, police conducted a swift operation and apprehended the pair, both residents of the village.

In a statement, the police urged parents and guardians to instill discipline in their children and discourage actions that could damage public infrastructure, emphasizing the legal repercussions of such behavior.

The SGR is a critical component of Tanzania’s transport network, and authorities have been vigilant in safeguarding its operations.
