A poll conducted by the research firm Politrack Africa has identified five governors regarded as the most transformative county leaders in 2024.
Released on Monday, November 25, the poll showed Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa as the top performer, with an impressive 76.5% approval rating from local residents.
Barasa was recognized for his impactful initiatives in health, agricultural modernization, and revenue generation, particularly through the automation of the county's revenue collection systems.
In second place was Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki who garnered an approval rating of 75.1 per cent.
Narok’s county boss Patrick Ole Ntutu came in third with an approval rating of 73.2 per cent from his county residents.
Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi was ranked as the 4th most transformative governor followed by Nandi Governor Stephen Sang who had an approval rating of 67.5 per cent.
“Among the projects that were noted by respondents include agricultural value addition and urban planning and sports development in the county,” read the poll in part.
Other notable governors who made it to the top 10 were Homabay’s Gladys Wanga and Meru’s Kawira Mwangaza who were ranked at positions six and seven respectively.
Governors Amos Nyaribo (Nyamira), Abdi Hassan Guyo (Isiolo) and James Orengo (Siaya) also made it to the top 10.
